How Paya Works
Paya is an index for listing, finding, buying and selling digital content. Paya's tools let sellers quickly create listings from their existing content and promote it across the web. Paya is a marketplace like other auction or listing sites and the transaction and license is between the seller and buyer.
Registration is free
Users can visit and search Paya without registering; to list, sell or license any content, users will need to create an basic account. Facebook can also be used to register.
Importing & Listing Content is Quick and Simple
Paya has powerful tools for quickly importing content from YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Flickr and Photobucket. There are no fees for listing and it just takes a few minutes to get content on Paya. To learn more about how to list and sell, visit our seller page.
Tools include batch upload and pricing; and the ability to add linkbacks to your content that help promote your sales on those sites.
We have a set of basic terms for sellers and buyers which include some content expectations, like 'the seller owns the content' and no content with obscenity. So once you agree to the terms you are ready to go. Set a price and let people use it however they like, or add multiple prices with Content Usage Rules and information on things like usage, territories, and term. Include the quality of the original content and delivery options to help the buyer make the right choice.
Paya is non-exclusive, you are in control, and you keep 80% of what you make.
Share and Promote your Content to get Sales!
Once you have created your listings on Paya, links and sharing tools let you automatically tag your content on other sites. You can also put badges or banners on your own blog or site, or share links with Twitter, Facebook, and Email. This helps your buyer discover your content in multiple places including Paya.
You have a Seller Page to promote your content and each listing page for content can be shared.
Basically, with a few clicks, you can advertise your content anywhere that people can find it, sending them to Paya to buy.
Easy Content Management
You can edit your listings at anytime using Manage; change pricing, make content inactive or publish, or delete items entirely.
How the Buying Process Works
When a buyer sees content they are interested in on paya.com or through a Paya link on some other site, they click to see the listing details, any usage rules, and delivery format.
To make a purchase, buyers need to register and provide payment information. When a buyer clicks purchase, the seller receives an email providing a link for uploading the delivery file. The seller has 3 days to upload the file. When the upload is complete, the buyer gets an email with a link to download the media.
A seller may have added the option to make offers, here Paya helps you communicate back and forth through email to come to other agreeable terms for the seller and buyer.
The seller receives the price paid minus 20%. Paya pays sellers the net owed to them from any month’s transactions no later than thirty (30) days after the calendar month end of received payment. Paya may withhold payments until the amount due reaches $10.
Problems or Issues
Buyers can seek a refund in cases where the content is corrupt in some way or does not match what was represented in the listing. Buyers must notify Paya within 10 days of the date of purchase at firstname.lastname@example.org to initiate a refund request. Paya will coordinate communication between the Buyer and Seller to try to reach a resolution.
